Laser therapy uses a combination of red and near-infrared lights at specific wavelengths to target certain areas of your pet’s body. The laser generates healing and cell growth when the light is absorbed. Some of the therapeutic effects include pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreasing swelling. Our veterinary practice uses a Class IV therapeutic laser, which is the most powerful one available. The laser is safe for your furry friend, decreasing the amount of time it takes to see results after treatments. Your pet will not need to be sedated or restrained during the procedure.
After the first treatment, you’ll notice some improvements in your pet. Laser therapy can be a good fit for your pet for any of the following conditions:
Each session is usually 15 to 25 minutes long. Depending on your pet’s ailment, we’ll decide if they need treatments as often as twice a week or once a month. Before your pet’s first treatment, we’ll do a consultation. If there are specific areas of concerns, we’ll diagnose them and develop a schedule for laser therapy sessions. Common areas of chronic pain we diagnose include hips, knees, back and elbows. The results speak for themselves. Quite often, we can reduce the amount of pain medication your pet is taking for their ailment after a few laser treatments.
