Is anesthesia safe for pets?
Though there are risks involved with administering anesthesia, we do our best to take all the necessary precautions to keep them as low as possible. Before your pet’s surgery, we’ll develop an anesthetic plan, specific to your pet’s needs. Each plan includes a premedication to help your pet relax before the procedure, as well as guidelines on how to smoothly administer anesthesia. Our veterinary team monitors each pet while they are under anesthesia, checking their vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature.
How else do you keep my pet safe during surgery?
Before their procedure, we perform pre-surgery bloodwork to ensure all your pet’s organs and systems are working well. It also helps us determine their immune system responsiveness and how well their blood is clotting. Besides our expert veterinary team, our surgical suite includes a range of machines that help us maintain your pet’s safety. For example, an EKG monitor tracks their heart rate and rhythm, SPO2 monitors measure the amount of oxygen in the blood, Doppler or Oscillometric devices track their blood pressure, thermometers monitor their temperature, and Capnograms measure their carbon dioxide levels.
